I am Marika Pendolin, CEO and founder of The HemmaKoti, the platform for care & maintenance services. We offer the possibility for an untapped resource of workers with limited but precise workability to be included in working-life through our cooperation with cities, communities, sport teams, and special needs education facilities. We are building a bridge between our entrepreneurial workforce and the aging adults who want to live longer in their own homes. We also provide services for seniors to get out of the house – we accompany to the doctor’s appointments or just to take a walk in the park.

We aim to change the lives of people who want to work, but due to prejudice – and lack of self-confidence or motivation – have not found the right path to working life.We recognize the need for services within the rapidly aging wester world, but we also witness how many unemployed have not been able to find job. We equalize this job market with trustworthy, reliable services, and bank like billing systems. We are also looking into the possibility of a rental workforce of registered nurses and physiotherapists to meet the future needs. We already operate in the EU, in Finland. 2023 we have undergone a crucial strategy pivot, and we are going to be profitable next year in our homeland operations. Our vision is to grow first in Scandinavia, Germany and the East Coast of USA. We are going to be a sustainable and socially responsible tech brand in the care taking business.
We handle the marketing and invoicing and pay the fees for our service providers. The clients who order services can be sure that the services and payments are in safe hands. We are a home services company, but also a FinTech company. We will also combine AI, weather forecasting and open property planning data in our timely marketing to offer services upfront for areas that prosper both in income and elderly people. But more so, we are a socially responsible people with a very inclusive workforce, and we want to show that everyone is needed at the workplace. We improve the wellbeing of our service providers through work inclusion.
When someone wants to sell housework on the HemmaKoti Platform, we check first the identity through strong recognition methods. We are also working with small businesses. We do our due diligence to ensure that service providers are whom they claim to be. When meeting a client, everyone has HemmaKoti workwear and carries a badge.
In the EU, we are registered as a Payment Service Provider by the Central Bank. The permit makes it possible for us to invoice the client directly. Then, after the work is done, we pay the service provider. This way, we can guarantee our clients’ financial security and payment safety.
We have a scalable business model and are 100 percent tech ready. There is no limit to how fast we can grow.

Giving back to our local community is a part of who we are. Youth sports teams are welcome to work as partners to gain additional financing for their trip and practice options. On the other hand, sport teams have also turned to us to employ people with special needs as coworkers, such as Lahden Pelicans Hockey Team.
We also work with special needs’ colleges and community services in Finland on precision work projects. This means that people with limited but precise training and skills work in our project with teams, help and supervision until they feel confident to continue alone with the job. We have many success stories like this, where a person has actually gotten a full-time job in their field.
Technology-wise, our mobile app and AI-based virtual marketer are a big parts of this action plan for 2024. We are currently using Care Ambassadors, people who open the market and sell services for old adults by visiting their association’s meetings locally. This concept is part of the proof of concept that we are building towards our sales concept. For this we need financing as well.

Our strategic partner Greenstep is also present within these markets. Our platform tech readiness is 100% and is daily tested in the Finnish market, with very little or no issues or bugs detected. We are now ready to develop this platform further to a mobile app.

We launched our business in Finland in 2022. We have five angel investors, and I have invested with my extended family in this business. We also have received funding from the EU Development Fund.
People need home services at a turning point in their life. Our most interesting client group is Old adults who order weekly services and have annual contacts. All the big cities in Finland are already our clients. Business clients are hospitals, and hospital or care centres for adults. Our main B2B clients also buy maintenance work and regular window washing.
